She is Mexican and American. She has always been an avid sportsperson. Gerina began to play golf at the age of 15. Gerina attended Goddard High School. Gerina was a winner at this year's New Mexico State Golf Tournament during her time in high school. Also, she was a volleyball player who competed on the level of state. In 2003, she started studying in The University of Texas. As a senior, she won every tournament she participated in.
